Crisis Advocacy Services

What does an Advocate do?  Fair Haven’s Community-Based Advocates are professionally trained to walk alongside survivors of sexual assault and human sex trafficking. Our advocates provide compassionate support, ensuring survivors never have to navigate the medical, legal, or emotional aftermath alone.

Advocates can help with:

  • Emotional Support – One-on-one guidance, weekly support groups, and coping strategies to promote healing and stability.
  • Medical Advocacy – Support during forensic evidence exams at the hospital, ensuring care and rights are respected.
  • Judicial Advocacy – Presence during police interviews, ongoing support throughout investigations, accompaniment during court proceedings, and information about victims’ rights.
  • Practical Assistance – Safety planning, help completing Victim Compensation paperwork, and referrals to trusted community resources.
  • Confidentiality – Fair Haven Advocates are privileged under Indiana law and cannot be compelled to testify. Your privacy is respected and protected at all times.

At Fair Haven, we believe survivors deserve not just to be heard—but to be supported, believed, and empowered on their journey toward healing.
